Yesterday was a weird day for me. Have you ever had one of those days where God speaks to you through other people? I mean, not just one person – but MULTIPLE people come to you with the same message? Yesterday, I had FOUR different people approach me because God had laid it on their heart to talk to me about my weight. I’m not one of those people who gets offended about it, and I was happy that they were obedient to God’s call on THEIR lives to talk with me – because, let’s face it – coming up to someone and talking to them about being overweight – that’s GOTTA be tough!
It was so funny, though. I got home, and I just felt like saying, “Okay God – I get it! I’m too fat! Okay?!? I’ll lose weight, okay?!? You made your point!”
Which brings me to some dietary tips for all of us today…Those Hungry Girls have come up with a great list of “Appetite Squashers,” and I thought that I’d share the knowledge with you!
1. Water – drink a full glass before a meal, and you’ll eat less.
2. Spicy Stuff – dulls your taste buds, so you eat less, plus there’s some metabolism-boosting effects!
3. Broth-Based Soups – Hot foods make you eat slower, which gives your stomach time to signal that it’s full.
4. Apples – just a great food. High fiber, so you feel full…tastes great…and fairly low in calories!
5. Pickles – if you watch your sodium intake, their crunch, flavor, and low caloric-content make them a great snack food.
6. Low-Fat / Fat-Free Yogurt – some containers contain as little as 100 calories, and you’ll be surprised at how filling they can be!
7. Leafy Green Vegetables – a great way to fill out a meal without adding too many calories! Steamed or raw – great fiber content!
